Referendum date still not confirmed
Posted on October 03, 2014

The Prime Minister says it's likely to take a few more weeks to complete consultations needed before a date is set for a referendum on constitutional recognition.

During his visit to Arnhem Land two weeks ago, Tony Abbott said he was hopeful of having more to say within days.

The Government has released a review of the timing that endorses 2017 for the vote, but Mr Abbott says he still has to talk to the Opposition and other stakeholders before committing to a date.
