Proposed remote jobseeker requirements flawed: Expert
Posted on December 11, 2014

A leading economic development expert has questioned the Federal Government's proposed jobseeker requirements in remote communities.

The Government wants remote residents on the dole to undertake work-like activities five days-a-week for 12 months of the year in a bid to make them job-ready.

Around 30 thousand people are expected to be affected by the policy, which is hoped to be introduced in July next year.

Professor Jon Altman from Australian National University says the Government's scheme may not fit with many communities.
