The board of the Kimberley Land Council has voted unanimously at its annual general meeting to protest and reject the looming WA Aboriginal Heritage Act amendment proposals.
The amendments, put forward by the state Government, would give decision-making power on First Nations heritage to one person and remove the right of traditional owners to appeal decisions.
Newly-elected KLC Chair Anthony Watson says the proposals would put sacred, cultural and historical sites at significant risk.
