Pintubi traditional owners of the Western Desert have signed an Indigenous Protected Area agreement, with their homelands to now be the largest protected arid zone on the planet.
4.2 million hectares of land will be protected and they'll work with scientists to preserve their land and threatened species.
Traditional owner Bobby West says the Kiwirrkurra IPA includes land stretching from WA to the NT and into the northern corner of South Australia.
