A member of Grandmothers Against Removal says many Indigenous people don't know their rights when they are faced with having their children taken away.
As part of UN Human Rights Day yesterday, Debra Swan took part in a forum exploring the question 'Can our First Nations Peoples celebrate UN Human Rights Day?'
The forum discussed issues such as the Northern Territory Intervention and forced removal of children.
Ms Swan, a Kamilaroi woman, says parents aren't told of their rights or that they're entitled to support when their children are taken away.
