Domestic violence often unreported, international conference hears

An international conference on family violence has heard the overwhelming majority of our children in out-of-home care are removed because of domestic violence in families.

The World Indigenous Domestic Violence Conference has been held in Queensland's far north and aimed to focus on a brighter future.

Relationships Australia's Manager of Aboriginal Workforce and Program Development, Yuin man Jim Golden-Brown, says domestic violence is often unreported, with "shame" being one of the major contributing factors.
