The co-winner of the Prime Minister's Literary Award for Fiction, Richard Flanagan (pictured), says he'll donate his 40 thousand dollars in prize money to Indigenous literacy.

Mr Flanagan's novel, 'The Narrow Road to the Deep North' also won this year's Man Booker Prize.

He says he hopes his donation, to go to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, will inspire children to write.
